PALATINE, Ill. – Harper College men's basketball player Allias Burnett (Joliet, Ill. /Joliet West) regularly shows off his incredible athleticism on the court. The 6-foot-3 versatile guard/forward can drive and get to the basket, shoot the three, make free throws, knock down a midrange jumper, and throw down an explosive dunk while also playing solid defense.

Burnett saved some of his best basketball for the end of the 2015-16 season. The sophomore averaged 25 points a game over his final four contests, and he can now call himself the fifth Harper College Athlete of the Week for the 2015-16 school year.

Burnett, who finished the season as the Hawks' top scorer at 19.0 PPG and second-leading rebounder at 6.0 RPG, was unstoppable on the offensive end in the final four games of the basketball season. At Joliet on Feb. 13, Burnett he scored a game-high 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting to go along with seven rebounds. On Sophomore Night at Harper College Feb. 17, he matched a career-high at that point with 29 points on 11-of-24 shooting and also grabbed seven rebounds.

Burnett played a key part in the Hawks' win in the regular season finale at Madison College Feb. 20. He was an efficient 8-of-15 from the field with 18 points and also had four rebounds. The sophomore saved his best for last in his final game as a Hawk, scoring a career-high 32 points (11-of-22 shooting, 6-of-6 free throws) in the Region IV Quarterfinal game at Joliet Junior College.

"Allias is such a unique athlete and person. He is a young man who could probably play any sport and be dominant in that sport," said Harper head coach Justin Welke. "Combine that athleticism with his character, drive, and humility, and you have a very special student-athlete."

What often goes unnoticed is the remarkable endurance Burnett displays. He started all 31 games this season and played a total of 1160 minutes (37.4 MPG, second in nation), which is the most minutes of anyone at the NJCAA Div. III level.

Burnett also shot a solid 45.9 percent (209-of-455) from the field this season and 73.6 percent (120-of-163) from the free throw line.

Burnett was recognized as a NJCAA Region IV Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week on two occasions this season (Nov. 30, Jan. 18).

"Allias got better and better as the season went on, and he really persevered," Welke said. "Most importantly, Allias is a kind person and a great teammate. That's why I know his future is bright."
