PALATINE, Ill. – Harper women's basketball player Joslyn Nicholson (/Cary-Grove) was named the NJCAA Division III Player of the Week yesterday by the NJCAA national office.
Nicholson received the award for her play in games from Dec. 8-14. In those two games, the 5-foot-10 sophomore forward averaged 26.0 PPG, 14.0 RPG, 2.0 APG and 4.5 SPG while shooting 79% from the free throw line.
She scored a career-high 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a comeback 70-65 victory over Oakton Community College. Nicholson followed that game up with 20 points, 13 rebounds and five steals against Kennedy-King College Dec. 11.
In 13 games this season, she is averaging a team-high 22.5 PPG (12th in nation), 11.1 RPG (31st in nation), and 2.6 SPG while shooting 76.6 percent (65-of-85) from the free throw line. She scored a game-high 29 points and snagged 15 rebounds in a win this week over Illinois Valley Community College.
