Boomers to Host College World Series Qualifier Tournament

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.  Schaumburg Boomers Stadium will play host to the final step before the World Series with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 4 Baseball Tournament, from Friday May 16 through Sunday, May 18.

This three-day tournament features the top regional teams in NJCAA Division II and III from Region 4. Tickets are now available and can be purchased through the Boomers Box Office in person, online at boomersbaseball.com or over the phone at 847-461-3695 for $5 per game, with tournament passes for the entire weekend for $20.

In 2013, Madison (Wis.) College beat Kankakee Community College in the Division II Region 4 World Series Qualifier Tournament Championship. At the Division III level, Waubonsee Community College knocked off Harper College to advance to the NJCAA World Series.

TOURNAMENT TEAMS

Division II

#1 Seed Madison College WolfPack (39-15) - Madison, WI - Ranked #8 in latest NJCAA Poll
How they got here: Won the Madison sectional over Illinois Valley Community College and Sauk Valley Community College. They defeated Illinois Valley 6-2 and Sauk Valley 7-1 on Saturday, May 10. On Sunday, May 11, the WolfPack lost a 4-2 game against Illinois Valley to set up a winner-take-all situation. The WolfPack prevailed, winning 10-6.

#2 Seed Kankakee Community College Cavaliers (39-19-1) - Kankakee, IL
How they got here: Won the Kankakee sectional over Moraine Valley Community College and Oakton Community College. They topped Oakton 5-4 and Moraine Valley 8-0 on Saturday, May 10. The Cavaliers won a 7-6, 10-inning thriller over Oakton on Sunday for the sectional championship.

#5 Seed Black Hawk College Braves (30-19-1) - Moline, IL
How they got here: Won the Lake County Sectional over College of Lake County and McHenry County College. They beat McHenry 8-5 and lost to Lake County 9-4 on Saturday, May 10. On Sunday, May 11, the Braves beat Lake County twice, 8-6 and 8-2, to win the sectional title.

#6 Seed Prairie State College Pioneers (28-16) - Chicago Heights, IL
How they got here: Won the Elgin sectional over Elgin Community College and Carl Sandburg College. They knocked off Carl Sandburg 14-6 and Elgin 5-4 on Saturday, May 10. On Sunday, May 11, the Pioneers beat Elgin 12-6 for the sectional crown.

Division III

#1 Seed Joliet Junior College Wolves (39-17) - Joliet, IL - Ranked #6 in latest NJCAA Poll
How they got here: Won their sectional over College of DuPage and Rock Valley College. They defeated College of DuPage 6-5 and Rock Valley 11-1 on Saturday, May 10 before clinching the sectional title with a 15-1 win over Rock Valley on Sunday, May 11

#3 Seed Waubonsee Community College Chiefs (35-23) - Sugar Grove, IL - Among others receiving votes in latest NJCAA Poll
How they got here: Won the Harper sectional over Harper College and Milwaukee Area Technical College. They defeated Milwaukee 9-5 and Harper 11-1 on Saturday, May 10 before clinching the sectional title with a 4-3 victory over Harper on Sunday, May 11.
