NEW ORLEANS, La. – This week, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its inaugural season-end award winners in NJCAA DIII cross country. Harper sophomore Will Troman (/Streamwood) and head coach Jim Macnider were among those recognized in the first-ever USTFCCCA awards for men's cross country.

Troman was named the Men's Central Region Athlete of the Year. He won the individual title at the NJCAA Region IV Men's Cross Country Championship Oct. 31 at Harper College. Macnider was named the Men's Central Region Coach of the Year. The Hawks swept the top five spots at the Regioin IV Championship to win with 15 points.

Macnider collected more hardware from the USTFCCCA, as he was named the Men's Coach of the Year at the national level. In his five years at Harper, the men's cross country team has five national titles. This year, the Hawks took the crown with 49 points, outpacing nearest finisher Mohawk Valley Community College (73 points).
