PALATINE, Ill. – Harper College men's basketball player Davion Benton (Chicago, Ill. /Alcott College Prep) is no stranger to recognition these past few weeks. The 6-foot-5 freshman forward was named the NJCAA Region IV Div. III Player of the Week for a third consecutive week.
Benton averaged 17 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals in a pair of games last week against Joliet Junior College and Milwaukee Area Technical College. Against Joliet, he had a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Against Milwaukee, Benton scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was 13-of-23 from the floor in the two games.
The first-year player is averaging 12.9 PPG (second on team) and 10.3 RPG (16th in nation) in 21 games this season.
