AURORA, Ill. – The Harper College women's cross country team ran another strong race at the Aurora University Spartan Classic on Friday. Lori Delfin (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) once again led the charge for the Hawks with a 23rd place finish, and the Hawks took ninth place as a team with 225 points.
Delfin crossed the finish line in a time on 25:04.2 on the muddy 6K course at the Oakhurst Forest Preserve. Silvia Catalan (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) was Harper's second runner to cross the finish line, taking 39th place in a time of 25:47.4. Itzel Sotelo (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) took 86th place overall for Harper with a time of 28:16.7.
Maria Barajas (/Schaumburg) and Cynthia Siddiqui (/Palatine) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks. Barajas took 110th place with a finishing time of 29:22.3 while Siddiqui took 114th in 29:38.1.
Host Aurora University captured top team honors with 34 points, followed by second place St. Norbert College with 54 points, third place Wheaton College with 63 points and fourth place Millikin University.
The Hawks run next at the Illinois Intercollegiate at Olivet Nazarene on Friday, September 12 at 4:15 PM.
