Harper Women Take Second Place at Hawks/Chiefs Invite

PALATINE, Ill. –
Led by sophomore Lori Delfin (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling), the Harper College women's cross country team took second place at the 1st Annual Hawks/Chiefs Invitational on the Harper campus on Saturday morning. The Hawks scored 35 points, finishing only behind first place Joliet Junior College (29 points). Southwestern Community College captured third place with 79 points.

Delfin was the Hawks' top runner, crossing the finish line in 15:34.2 in the 4K race for a second place finish. Silvia Catalan (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) was not far behind, placing fifth with a time of 15:46.5. Itzel Sotelo (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) also placed in the top-10 with a ninth place finish in 16:46.3.

Maria Barajas (/Schaumburg) was the Hawks' fourth runner, taking 18th place overall with a time of 18:16.6. Kaeley Melaniphy (/Barrington) rounded out the scoring for Harper with a 32nd place finish in a time of 20:25.6. Taylor LoCoco (/Prairie Ridge) took 35th place in a time of 21:50.9.

Up next, the Hawks will race at the Aurora Invite at 5 PM Friday.
