Box Score RIVER GROVE, Ill. – The Harper College men's soccer team picked up a crucial 4-1 victory over host Triton College on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks finished the regular season 6-5-2 overall, 5-4-1 in N4C play, and earned the #3 seed in Region IV postseason play.
Juan Hernandez (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) netted the Hawks' first goal of the game on a feed from Alex Freeman (/St. Viator). Jaime Quintana (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Huntley) scored the second goal on a pass from Freddy Delfin (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling). The Hawks led 2-0 at halftime over the Trojans (10-6, 7-3 N4C)
Matt Kitsis (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) tallied his second goal of the season in the second half on an assist from Aldo Figueroa (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) to extend the lead to 3-0. Hernandez scored his second goal of the game and fourth of the season on another Delfin assist to push the advantage to 4-0. The Trojans scored a goal late in the game to cut the Harper lead to 4-1.
Goalkeeper Irvin Velazquez (/Hersey) made seven saves and earned the victory.
With the win, the Hawks will host the Region IV Quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 18 at noon. Their opponent will be #6 Milwaukee Area Technical College (1-13, 0-10 N4C). The winner advances to the Region IV semifinals to face #2 Triton on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 2 PM.
